What the hell?

Welcome to the Corporate Handbook from Hell. This book lists common dysfunctional workplace practices, called “rules” here. They are presented in a satirical way, but they are (mostly) based on real experiences and observations.

We sincerely hope you don’t follow them blindly and use them as career guide. Treat them as a diagnostic tool: the more rules you recognize from your own work environment, the deeper you already are in HELL.

Why does this exist?

Because so many people read, laugh, then quietly gulp: “Damn, that’s exactly my company.” Because everyone feels it, but few dare to lay the cards on the table. Because we all need impulses:

  • to notice when healthy practices are twisted into their opposite,
  • to talk openly once they’re recognized,
  • to make others aware and spark discussions with colleagues.

Sounds familiar?

After reading a rule, you might think: “Wow, that’s so true!” or “I’ve seen this happen before.” That’s your invitation to pause and reflect: Is this my workplace? My boss? My last meeting?

Why best-intentions.org?

Most rules are a negative exaggeration of something that was originally good. They stem from the best intentions. But as we all know, the road to hell is often paved with good intentions.

“Hell isn’t merely paved with good intentions; it’s walled and roofed with them. Yes, and furnished too.” — Aldous Huxley
